What is bulk create for OKRs?
Our bulk create for OKRs allows you to create multiple OKRs in one fell swoop so you don't need to go in and create each OKR one-by-one. Check out our guide on using bulk create for OKRs.
What are OKRs?
OKRs, or Objectives and Key Results, is a popular goals framework based on the idea that goals should be structured to have one primary (parent) Objective, and multiple Key Results supporting that Objective. Think of an Objective as where you want to go (Become an industry leader), and Key Results as the specific plans of attack for how you'll get there (Launch our new product, Grow user base by 10%, Expand Sales footprint into Asia).
OKRs are also meant to cascade from top-to-bottom through an organization. For instance, an organization may have 2-4 company-wide/organizational OKRs, then each department will have their 2-4 OKRs that support the company OKRs, each team will have 2-4 OKRs that support department OKRs, and so on all the way down to the individual level.

How do I access bulk create OKRs?
Goals dashboard > Create goal > Multiple goals.
What fields are required to create my OKRs?
The following fields are required to create OKRs:
- Type (Objective or Key Result)
- Objective or Key Result name
- Parent Objective (this will auto-populate based on your goal Type)
- Goal owner (email address to invite or select existing Qatalog member)
- Level (Organization, Team, Personal. This will autopopulate for Key Results)
What does "Parent Objective" mean?
As we previously covered, OKRs are structured so there's 1 Objective and multiple Key Results that support that objective. In order to properly represent this hierarchy, all Key Results will need a Parent Objective.
Fortunately, there's no real work you need to do: every Key Result in your list will inherit the last Objective you made as their Key Result. It's also why we force your first goal to be an Objective.
All that's to say: you don't need to actively enter information in the "Parent Objective" fields -- we'll take care of that for you -- but it can be helpful for making sure your Key Results are supporting the right Objective.
Here's an example of how an OKR (with hierarchy) maps to our bulk create experience:
How do I know my goals are properly filled out?
If you have fields missing or if the format is incorrect, you will see red signposting to help you identify which goal and fields are causing issues, and you'll be unable to proceed to the next step. You'll also be able to view a counter of your goals (correctly set up and incorrectly set up) at the bottom of the page.
I can't upload everything in one go. Is there anyway I can exit and pick up where I left off?
Yes. We will save your spot if/when you leave the bulk upload experience so you can create goals at your own pace.
Some of the people who own these goals aren't in Qatalog. Can I invite them in?
Yes! Enter their email address during the upload + validate step of the process (first step), and confirm that you'd like to send them invites in the second and last step of the bulk create process.
I'd like to further edit some goals while I wait for my invited goal owner to sign-up for Qatalog. How do I do that?
Make sure to check off the box "Add me as a Member on these goal(s)". Your member status will allow you to access the goal directly, edit the goal, and add additional contributing members.
I've invited a lot of members. Will I have to pay for all of them immediately?
No, you will only need to pay for members once they become active within Qatalog. Please review our billing and pricing policies to learn more.
Where can I find my goals once they've been created?
We'll bring you straight to All Goals sorted by "Recently created" where you'll be able to find your goals at the top of the dashboard list.
