Google Drive connection

Google Drive is one of the many connections available on Qatalog, and there's different options on how you can connect it for your organization.

Private connection

This is the fastest way to connect your personal Drive account to Qatalog, so you can search through all the files and folders you have access to. As the name suggests, this connection is private and only you can search through it once you authorize the connection.

Private connections are on an individual level and can be connected by users and admins alike.

To add Google Drive as a private connection, you can click on the plug icon on the top right of the homepage or you can do it by going to 'Settings' > 'Connections' > 'My Connections'.

Shared connection

This option can only be setup by admins, as it's on an organization level. Shared connections allow you to select files, folders or entire Google Drives to be searchable by everyone in your organization; even if they don't normally have access to them from their personal Drive accounts. This can be useful, for example, if you have important company information in folder that you want everyone to be able to search through.

To add a Google Drive shared connection, go to 'My Connections' > 'Add'. Once connected click 'Manage'.

On the prompt window, click on 'Shared Connection' on the right side, here you can give it a specific name and icon or leave the default.

You can also choose if you want everything on you Google Drive to be searchable by your organization, or switch to 'Select Items' if you wish to allow access to only specific files or folders; paste the URL of the item (or items) you want to share, and click 'Save'.
